Dieback Response Group

The Dieback Response Group was established by the State Environment Minister to implement the State Phytophthora dieback policy framework and monitor its progress. The Group is responsible for: identifying and promoting priorities for management action across the community; identifying and seeking resources for implementing management actions; periodically reviewing the implementation of management actions across the community to identify successes, gaps, shortfalls and remedies; maintaining direct communication lines with key organisations engaged in Phytophthora dieback management and management promotion; and reporting on progress to the Minister. In implementing the policy framework the Group works closely with the Dieback Consultative Council.

The State Phytophthora dieback policy framework includes:

  • development of a dieback atlas for WA;
  • preparation of guidelines for other land tenures such as private and Local Government land;
  • preparation of a generic dieback risk assessment methodology for broad community use;
  • an action plan specifically to tackle the dieback threat to Fitzgerald River National Park, one of our most significant conservation reserves;
  • implementation of a Dieback Communication Plan; and
  • a whole of Government policy on dieback management.
